Equality for Women and Girls

Rise Up: PODER

Directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Lisa Russell, the film PODER tells the story of two young indigenous Guatemalan girl leaders who fought for a municipal office and financial resources to support adolescent girls’ development in their municipality. These girl leaders are just one of the success stories of the Public Health Institute’s Let Girls Lead initiative, which aims to amplify the girl’s ability to lead and make social change around the world through advocacy, education, economic empowerment, and storytelling.
