Equality for Women and Girls

Girls are powerful. When girls are educated, healthy, and safe, they can transform their lives, their families, and their communities. When girls stand up for other girls in need, they empower each other and make our world a better place to live. Girl Up and Rise Up are working to engage girls to take action and advance gender equality around the world.

Girl Up and Rise Up created this 10-week curriculum together to support girl leaders and their allies to identify the issues that impact girls most deeply in their communities, and develop strategies to amplify the girls’ voices, launch girl led advocacy campaigns, and effectively educate decisionmakers in order to create a more just and equitable world. This curriculum has been designed specifically for adult advisors and other facilitators to work with adolescent girls who want to make change in their own community and be part of a movement for gender equality. Girl leaders who are more advanced in their advocacy skills can also facilitate these sessions with their peers.

The sessions in this curriculum were designed to be implemented in low-resource settings but several of the activities require an internet connection and screening of a video. If electronic equipment, internet, or video is not available, most activities can still be implemented with some creative adaptation. Click here to view and download the full curriculum.
