HOW TO APPLY

Grantmaking Guidelines

Initial requests to the Summit Fund should come in the form of a letter of inquiry. As a general rule, unsolicited proposals will not be accepted.

The letter should be no more than two pages in length, and should include the following information:
  • A summary of the proposal;
  • An explanation of the proposal’s relationship to Summit’s funding priorities and to your organization’s mission and work; and
  • The grant amount being requested, the total proposed budget and the funding available to date.

Where a letter of inquiry indicates a direct and close connection to Summit’s funding objectives, a full proposal may be requested. At that time, we will provide further information for proposal submission.

The Board of Directors meets twice a year. In 2010, Board meetings will be held on April 22 (proposals due February 19) and October 21 (proposals due August 19).

Grants are awarded only to those organizations with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and organized and operated for charitable purposes.
