1) Supporting common frameworks and indicators for Sustainable Cities that:
- Help cities establish baselines, targets, plans, policies, measures, and verification;
- Distill best thinking into an understandable set of components;
- Illuminate how the components function to maintain sustainability;
- Detail paths to success that are scalable and easily adaptable to local conditions; and
- Facilitate widespread adoption through a transparent process that engages a diverse set of stakeholders and promotes collaboration and comparison.
2) Supporting inspirational models of Sustainable Cities that:
- Advance practical, leveragable and transferrable solutions;
- Establish new model policies that increase city sustainability and;
- Demonstrate city sustainability at a systemic level.
3) Supporting Visionaries that:
- Inspire, inform and motivate city leaders;
- Trigger a movement for city sustainability; and
- Identify trends, suggest alternatives and inspire best practices.
