Leadership for Adolescent Reproductive Health
Overview | Goal | Strategies | Operating Principles
Program Goal
Our goal is to ensure that every young person in the developing world has access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information and services. This will empower youth to protect their health, manage their fertility and improve their quality of life. Moreover, since human health and well-being do not operate in isolation from the health of the natural environment, achieving universal access will aid societies in reducing pressure on natural resources and enable young people to contribute fully to the development of healthy, just and sustainable communities.
We seek to promote universal access by:
- Educating and mobilizing the next generation of leaders in support of our mission;
- Advancing policies, programs and funding that expand access to adolescent sexual and reproductive health information and services; and
- Supporting innovative approaches to advancing adolescent sexual and reproductive health access in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and the state of Quintana Roo, México.
We focus our funding in:
- The United States (for programs with global outcomes) and
- Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and the state of Quintana Roo, México.
To track global progress toward our goal, we rely on the Indicators of Access to Health Services for Young People developed by the World Health Organization:
